Are some people wired to have more sex than others?

Unable to figure out why you can’t get to bed with her after several attempts while your closest friend is never short of offers? Your brain is simply not wired for sex.

According to a fascinating research, some people are actually wired to have more sex – or at least be really, really motivated to hook up.

“Some people’s brains are simply more sensitive to sexual cues than others – which means it takes less to get them aroused and ultimately leads them to find sexual partners,” explained Nicole Prause, an assistant research scientist in psychiatry at University of California Los Angeles.

To prove their point, Prause and her team recruited psychology students to get an electroencephalogram (EEG) of their brains and to view 225 standardised pictures of pleasant, neutral or unpleasant things.

The pleasant images included sexually stimulating ones like explicit pictures of people having sex.

The students were also asked about their number of sexual partners in the past year.

Some of the participants showed strong reactions on the EEG to nearly all of the intimacy-themed images, regardless of whether they were explicit.

These were the same people who reported having more partners.

For these people, said Prause, it’s not a chasing of a “high” or a reward but a biological sensitivity to sexual cues that sets their arousal threshold at a much lower level.

We may be wired to want sex, but that does not mean the wiring can’t be re-routed, she said in the study published in the journal Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience.

Nadia Buari Has reportedly Dumped Jim Iyke

Photo: Jim Iyke and Nadia Buari
Fresh reports indicate that Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari has ended her long-time relationship with famous Nigerian actor Jim Iyke.
According to YNaija, the angered Nollywood bad boy blamed US-based musician and publisher of Nigeria FM Emma Agu for being responsible for their break-up.
Story
Iyke told Buari that he was going to Miami on business, however he was spotted in New York with his ex Keturah Hamilton. NY resident and blogger Agu reportedly called Buari to ask her if they had split up.
Unaware of the fact that her alleged fiance is in New York, the Ghanaian beauty afterwards blasted Jim referring to facts sent to her by New York people and after having confirmed that Jim was there with his ex, she separated from him.
Emma Agu responds to Jim's attacks
Annoyed by the actor's accusations, Agu, who was allegedly called by Iyke, spoke harshly about the Nollywood star saying their break-up is his fault. See Agu's original message in part:
"This overrated son of a b***h with his amateurish acting skills thinks his name can bring any good to a writer or a blogger. The man with a tainted name, a rogue who has burnt every bridge he stepped on is trying to hold me responsible for what ever misfortune that has fallen him in the last 72 hours.
"So this montebank sneaked into New York around 5am 3 days ago and did everything to keep it a top secret until the bubble burst right in front of him. When I got the hint that James was in Keturah’s house, I thought Keturah was lying . The girl said James came claiming that his relationship with Nadia Buari was over. She also said James (Jim) came to pick her up from Nigeria. I told her this guy might be lying.
"When I got in touch with Nadia's manager, he maintained that Nadia was aware Jim went to Miami and insisted he (Jim) was no way near Keturah's house."
According to Agu, he had the insulting talk by Iyke recorded on tape and will "play it to my world audience by 8AM New York time, which should be 1PM Nigerian Time. I need everyone out there to listen and find out why Jim Iyke should be taken off the streets. The guy can never change. That deliverance by TB Joshua never worked. It was a fluke."
He also called Iyke a "psycho", "disappointment", "fraudster" and "cheat", saying he must be arrested over threatening Agu's life.
This story comes as a big disappointment after the recently publicized engagement of Jim and Nadya.

Do You Really Think The #Bringbackourgirls Tag Can do The Magic?

Looking at this from another angle, one can be forced to say that using the hashtag #bringbackourgirls is a waste of time.

The “Bring back our girls” campaign on social media reeks of stupidity and insensitivity on our side.

Like fashion, Our Celebrities and their worshippers(you) have taken to the#bring back our girls rave.

They have condemned Boko Haram in the corner of their houses, shot videos and taking pictures, in the process and winning public approval(gaining popularity). Our naive social media community have followed suit.

Let us take time to answer these questions.

How many of this twitter activists have visited the parents of the girls and offered their so called love?

How many of this futile campaigns can change Boko Haram?

But we are fast to selfishly say ‘Bring back our girls’. Why don’t you go and bring them? Be the change you preach, grab a gun and head to Sambisa

If you can’t pray , stop giving Boko Haram the needed publicity…

What can you say about this, will it work?#Bringbackourgirls

Back to the Top: Diddy Beats Out Dr. Dre, Jay Z As Forbes’ Most Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artist Of 2014

Puff Daddy is back to winning ways as he tops the recently released list of hip hop’s top cash kings. The Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists 2014 .

Diddy topped the list this year with an estimated fortune of $700 million. Thanks to his newly launched Revolt TV channel, Puff’s worth rose $120 million from last year, according to Forbes.

Dr. Dre and Jay Z fell to number two and three, respectively. The “Beats by Dre” headphones company helped hip-hop’s prestigious Doctor rake in $550 million while the Jigga Man bagged $520 million, thanks to his Roc Nation label and sports agency.

Check the full list and how much each artists earns.

1. Sean “Diddy” Combs ($700 million)

Diddy keeps his crown yet another year, pushing ever closer to the billion-dollar mark thanks mostly to non-musical ventures. His newly-launched Revolt TV provides him with a majority equity stake that could one day make him hip-hop’s first billionaire. The artist formerly known as P. Diddy has plenty of other ventures, including a deal with Diageo’s Ciroc that entitles him to eight-figure annual payouts and a nine-figure windfall of the brand is ever sold.

2. Andre “Dr. Dre” Young ($550 million)

The California-bred superproducer leapfrogs Jay Z on this year’s list, fueled by the runaway success of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, which he cofounded with record executive Jimmy Iovine in 2008.

With a whopping 65% market share of the premium headphone market and a recent $500 million infusion from Carlyle Group, Beats’ value is soaring toward $2 billion.

3. Shawn “Jay Z” Carter ($520 million)
Megadeals like his $204 million Rocawear sale in 2007 and his $150 million pact with Live Nation in 2008 provide Jay Z’s fortune with firm footing. But the bulk of its growth this year comes from new ventures.Jay Z’s Roc Nation is worth a healthy nine figures itself thanks to the addition of Roc Nation Sports, which gets a single-digit percentage cut of pacts like Robinson Cano’s $240 million monster. (For more on Mr. Carter’s rise as a businessman.

4. Bryan “Birdman” Williams ($160 million)

Birdman’s number would be over $300 million if he didn’t share his fortune with brother Ronald “Slim” Williams, with whom he cofounded Cash Money Records two decades ago.Cash Money continues to grow with a roster that includes Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and even Paris Hilton; diversification is on the way with Cash Money Content, a YMCMB clothing line and GT Vodka.

5. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson ($140 million)

One of the most successful rappers of the past decade, 50 actually owes most of his fortune to his $100 million haul from the sale of VitaminWater in 2007. Now he’s trying to recapture that magic with companies like SMS Audio and SK Energy. In the meantime, he’ll reboot his music career by taking his G-Unit Records independent and releasing new album Animal Ambition.

Hilarious! Charles Novia shares his Experience at President Goodluck's Daughter's Wedding

I just attended the wedding reception of President’s Jonathan’s daughter, Faith and her husband, Godswill. I am sure most of you saw it live on television but I just might write a behind-the-scene review of what happened in the hall which you could not see. I might write that later.

Let me just give a slice of it; all these big men you guys see in power and out of it are all hustlers like you and me! The rush to enter the hall, ehn? Captains of industries and
Government officials were in a flux and fight to enter the hall which was barricaded by stern security men at the International Conference Centre.

The protocol is that once the President enters the hall; the doors are shut and no one gets in or out till the President leaves. So, there was a scramble to enter. Me sef shame for some people. Chai! There were rumpled and creased clothes on people after the scamble. A couple of ladies lost their headscarves and headties and gave us shocking glimpses of their ‘Abolo’ heads! Chai!

The President’s Security detail at the venue were stern but professional. They didn’t give a hoot who you were. Orders are orders. Everyone who entered; those that mattered wanted to be seen by the President or First Lady and a small line of diffident favour-seekers or friends was formed but many could not pass through the security detail to just greet Mr President.

Let me shock you guys a bit. The biggest critics of President Jonathan, the opposition parties or cliques, the rabble-rousers and all were mostly there at the wedding! I was shocked! Ehn! Politicians! That’s how they deceive you all by crying wolf and abusing the President yet they run to him to prostrate at night or in private! Those of you who follow blindly these people una go see! Be careful!

I even saw Dele Momodu, who lambasts President Jonathan every week for the past four years on Thisday backpage on Saturday, taking pictures and going round shaking hands. He shook my hands too. Egbon! Look, in politics there are no permanent friends or enemies: just permanent interests!

I must hand it to GEJ, he shielded his family from public glare. I mean; how many of us know he has three biological children and three adopted with this new bride being an adopted child he took in about 15 years ago? Very touching.

The couple got gifts of over 60 brand new cars as presents from what a close source told me. ‘Bastardly rich’ Nigerians fell over themselves to give presents. Chai! There was a group of orange-scarved women who caused a stampede in the hall after the wedding rushing for gifts and stuff! Wetin? People nor get shame? The presents given to the guests were magnifique! Not anything ostentatious but just cool.

This Nigeria is great, sha! Odiegwu!

Our Family Relies On Royalty For Survival—Oliver De Coque’s Son, Safin

The Nigerian music industry was thrown into mourning mood in 2008 following the death of a veteran musician, Oliver De Coque. The heavily bearded guitarist reportedly died of cardiac arrest at a private hospital. His death shocked many, who were never expecting such.

Oliver De Coque won the hearts of many music lovers with his scintillating performances and songs in his lifetime. His high-life music was loved by the older generations that cut across the Igbo and Yoruba tribes.

The Anambra State-born music icon played a major role by playing music for Biafran soldiers during the civil war of 1967 to 1970. It will be recalled that the corpse of the mother of the musician was still in the mortuary, when he died in 2008. She had died few days before his death and Oliver De Coque was planning to bury the old woman in the house he was building then before he died suddenly.

In an interview with Nigeriafilms.com, a son of the late musician, Safin De Coque disclosed that the family has been enjoying royalties from the albums of his late dad.

“I felt the pain when he first died, but I have learnt to move on and I am glad that he left some things on ground to sustain the family,” Safin said when asked how he felt when his father died.

When further asked to explain what he meant by ‘some things’ his father left behind, the bearded rapper said, “the royalties from the sales of his albums, and what we get from his properties and many other things he left behind.” He also said, “I also appreciate his good friends, who still call the family to know how we are fairing.”

The young De Coque said that he will soon remix one of the songs of his late dad and he hopes this would bring back the memories of his father. He informed us that his own style of rap music has a fusion of highlife, which appeals to lovers of both genres of music.

Patience Ozokwor Has Something To Say About Ghanaian Filmmakers

According to Patience who was recently in Kumasi to shoot ‘Mama Africa’, a Ghana-Nigeria collaboration, they are doing well producing movies in the indigenous language and they deserve to be encouraged.

Speaking during a press conference, the actress said, "I am glad things are changing in Africa, where Ghana is taking steps to use and trade with its local language through movies. Bollywood is second when it comes to movie making in the world. They use their local language to shoot, which tells you that it’s not bad for an industry to use local language to shoot movies.

"When one makes mistakes in English, the whole country laughs at the person, but we forget it’s not our language, but rather it’s the white man who forced us to learn it; so if Africa needs to grow, one of the things we can grow with is our language."

Ex-BBA Star, Elikem, Denies Impregnating Theresa Onnen: 'Pokello And I Are Still Happily Together'

Germany-based Ghanaian fashion designer, Theresa Onnen, recently claimed she is carrying Elikem’s unborn child. But ex-Big Brother Africa housemate, Elikem Kumordzie, has profusely denied claims made by Theresa.

Theresa Onnen said that she is two weeks pregnant for Elikem. "We fell in love the very first day I met him at the launch of my clothing line of which he was part of the models, we exchanged numbers and we started a relationship from there. It is barely a month since we got to know each other but anyone who has seen us together would think we have been dating for more than two years, simply because we click," Theresa claimed.

Ex-BBA housemates Elikem and Pokello Nare, who have been dating from the onset of the reality show in 2013, have laughed off the claims. They say their love is waxing stronger regardless of break up rumours.

Elikem denied being with Theresa Onnen: "Good morning my people. They have started again. Let’s burn these Motherfuckers. I am not with Theresa Onnen, Pokello and I are still happily together. This shit is insane. What has Polikem done to these people? I love my wife. Period," he said.

Pokello Nare added: "Elikem breaks up with Pokello; impregnates German-based designer hahahhaha. Polikem is a mother fucken Brand. When we break up we will inform u, not the other way round! Good day."

'I'm Not Bothered By My Crashed Marriage — Ex-Wife Of Nollywood Producer Jeta Amata Reveals

It seems like Mbong Amata, one time wife of Nollywood director, Jeta Amata, is moving on greatly without Jeta after their marriage hit the rock some time ago. She doesn’t care and not bothered about what goes on next, she said she is not bothered with her crashed marriage to the renowned film mogul.

Mbong said this during an interview with newsmen while she was in the country recently for the shoot cum premiere of Emem Isong’s latest movie, Apaye: A Mother’s Love.

When asked if she was ever worried by negative stories that trailed her marriage crash, she said:

“Never. I tried my best. I might not look strong but I’m very, very strong. If you are in show business or any business that put you out there, you have to build a solid, great wall of China around you. My wall is very tall. I only hear about it, but I’m not moved one bit. So, I have a huge wall around my person.”

On why she is still bearing Amata as her last name despite her separation from Jeta, Mbong says: “Yes, does it change anything? It doesn’t.”

“Jeta is a great man, fantastic dad but life has to move on,” she added.

Commenting on whether she would still like to star in her ex-husband’s film, She answered: “Why not? He was my friend before he became my husband. We had a great relationship. We are connected for life. We have a child together. If I see him, as often as I could, it doesn’t change anything.”

On whether she is ready to give marriage another chance, this is what Mbong, who says she is not in any serious relationship right now, has to say:

“I don’t really know, but I don’t want to say never. It is the future, I prefer to live in the now and see how that goes. But for now, it is about me doing more films, charity and raising my child. So, that is my priority.”

THE LIVES OF "MISS INDEPENDENT" LADIES

There have been different questions and opinion polls on why some ladies prefer to remain single. People have different opinions and reasons why they will love to be single than to be in the ‘bondage’ that marriage is being painted as today. Find below some of the reasons:

1. You get to design your living space exactly as you want it, and appreciate the serenity and freedom that comes with no one encroaching on your little bubble.

2. You get to make a list of all the things you want to do and move through them one by one without ever having to stop and ask another person if they are okay with doing it.

3. You learn what it means to define yourself as an individual, and not even tangentially as part of a unit.

4. For many things — from sleeping through the night, to feeling good about yourself, to trying new activities — you learn to rely on yourself, and to be your own support system when you need it.

5. You can go home to your family, or take a trip somewhere new, for a period of time if you need to, and not have to worry about anyone else’s life being affected by your distance. You don’t have to maintain any relationship while you are away.

6. You don’t have to take anyone’s opinion into consideration when planning a vacation.

7. Every day you live holds the potential of starting an entirely new love story — whether with a partner or a city or a book — and you never know when or where yours is going to start.

8. You can dedicate nearly all your social time to developing and enriching the friendships which sometimes fall by the wayside when you are consumed with a new relationship.

9. You can figure out the things which are important to accomplish by yourself, and work on achieving higher and higher goals on your own.

10. You can throw yourself fully into your work — even to the point that you’re not seeing your friends as frequently as you’d like to — and don’t have to worry about it coming at the cost of your relationship.

11. You don’t have to feel guilty about being the most important thing in your life.

12. In the absence of someone else’s opinion or touch or reinforcement, you can decide exactly how you feel about your own body and how you would like to improve or change it, if you’re not happy.

13. You can engage in long moments of self-care, and not have to explain to anyone why you’re upset or why you need to be by yourself for a while.

14. No one is going to take your solitude personally.

15. You get to spend extended periods of time wandering around, reading, people-watching, drinking tea, and listening to the kinds of things you think about when no one is telling you what they want to do next.

16. You can decide the things that you love about being single — the parts of you that you absolutely don’t want to disappear when you get into a relationship — and learn to set boundaries around them. You can refuse relationships that encroach on your personal time or ability to make your own choices.

17. Because of all the time you are able to spend working on your platonic or familial relationships, you realize how essential and affirming all of these different connections can be, and how much you need to care for them when you’re back into a relationship again.

18. You can take as much time as you need to lick your wounds from previous hurts or disappointments.

19. All of your energy can go towards taking care of and improving yourself, from working hard on a project to learning a new language to redoing your entire apartment, and you don’t have to reserve a designated amount of time to taking care of someone else.

20. The fear that we all live with — the fear of being alone, and that somehow denoting failure — begin to ebb as you realize that being alone can be just wonderful.

Alleged Rapist, Obesere Threatens Victim, Olanike Olaiya -'I have spent a lot of money treating myself'

There were indications, yesterday, that the case involving popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande, also known as Obesere, arrested for allegedly raping a 29-year-old business woman, Miss Olanike Olaiya, in his Okota residence may have been  transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.

Sources told Vanguard, yesterday, that the embattled musician preferred the SCID to the  Isolo Police division because the DPO had insisted on the matter going to court. Normally, it is  the Divisional Police Officer at Isolo Division, Aminu Ibrahim, that should have ordered the transfer of the case to SCID for further investigations. But Obesere was alleged to have used his contacts in the police to have the case transferred to SCID.

A police source also disclosed that Obesere found it difficult to pressurize the DPO at Isolo into striking out the matter or persuade the victim to accept a settlement. The source, who craved anonymity, also said Obesere contacted some top citizens to wade into the matter by persuading the DPO to soft-pedal on the  matter but they backed down when they discovered that the police have incriminating evidence against the musician.

Victim relocates to Sagamu for treatment

Meantime, the victim, Olaiya, told Vanguard yesterday that she had relocated to her home town, Sagamu in Ogun State, where she is currently receiving treatment for the rape incident. Olaiya, who spoke with Vanguard on the telephone, said: “As I speak with you, I am in Sagamu, my home town, where I have been  receiving traditional treatment since the incident occurred.

I bled for more than two weeks —Victim

“I bled for more than two weeks after Alhaji Obesere raped me and inserted his ring into my private part. The incident occurred on February 12, 2013 and I have spent a lot of money treating myself.

“The DPO, Isolo Police division, took pity on me and refused to give in to Obesere’s pressure to  strike out the case and God will bless him for that. “But last week I was informed that the case had been transferred to the SCID and my Investigating Police Office, IPO, at Isolo asked me to come to the station on Tuesday for the transfer.

“But when I got to the SCID, I discovered the IPO, who took over the case, one Mr. Jacob, I don’t know his rank, became hostile to me. “You need to see how this man treated me. He started by asking me to write a new statement and when I tried to explain that I had written a statement at Isolo division, he rebuffed my explanation and insisted I wrote a new one.

They threatened to kill me

“Afterwards, they started threatening me. The IPO, Alhaji Obesere, and some of his brothers, who were present there, asked me to stop the journalists from publishing my story and if I don’t, I will be a dead person. “I was so frightened when they said this and each time my phone rang someone would pick it up to know who was calling. “Later, they discovered  I wasn’t going to break, then they started begging me and promised to take care of me. Alhaji Obesere even said he was going to take me to the best hospital for treatment.

“At the end, I rose to leave and they offered to drop me in my place. The IPO also insisted that I should follow them. Instead of taking me to my area, they took me to Obesere’s house and the woman who introduced me to him was also there. “While I was with them I alerted the police at Isolo and told them where I was. “But yesterday, they called after they saw the publication and started threatening again to kill me. “I am highly terrified, that was why I travelled back  to my home to get some treatment.”
